As September is coming to an end, We felt the need to touch base. We are all doing great and have learned the rules and routines of our classroom. It was nice meeting with everyone at open house. In terms of curriculum, we are in the middle of writing our personal narrative stories. In reading workshop, we are beginning partnerships. The students must keep on top of their reading in order to keep up with their partner. Partners will work together to set goals each day for at home reading. Students will be required to jot many post its as they read in order to be able to hold discussions with their partner. In social studies, we are embarking on a unit on European Explorers. And, in word work, we are still focusing on our science terms to compliment our environment unit with Mr. Knight. We had our first TERN trip today at White Sands Beach and learned about the ocean ecosystem. We are working with unit one in math and hope to get everyone access to their think central account by the end of the week. Thanks to Mrs. Burge for a special lunch last Friday to celebrate Ian's birthday. Congratulations to Ian and Jamie for being our students of the week so far. Please, feel free to contact us with any questions.
