We're almost finished with the first week of school. It's exciting to be back in the routines of fall. Speaking of routines...we have been really focusing on routines in the classroom. Routines will help us create seamless transitions and independent learners. We make up a wonderful class and I'm happy to have all of these third graders.
WOW!!! Reading is off to a bang. On the second day of school, we picked JRB's. Ask your child what a JRB is? And, we couldn't be more excited. Some of us have even finished more than one JRB already. YAY!!! Don't forget to return your reading folder to school every day. This month we are going to work on 'building our reading life'. In writing workshop, we will begin to write entries in our writers notebooks.
In Math, we have been assessing. However, Go Math officially starts tomorrow. We are starting with Addition and Subtraction within 1,000. We will have math homework every night. It would be great to help your child with homework, if need be. Be on the lookout on Tuesday, September 11th for a math page in your homework folder.
In Social Studies, we're all about maps. We're about to learn all about map skills, including oceans and continents.
This week we will also get together with our buddy class. Our buddies are right across the hall in Mrs. Keyes' third grade. We're so happy to be working with our friends, neighbors and our classmates. Tomorrow we will create our first STEAM activity. We can't wait.
It's going to be a fantastic third grade year!!!
