It seems as if Springs is here. Yay! With the ELA state test behind us, we are excited to begin new units in reading and writing workshop. In Reading Workshop, we are about to embark on a historical fiction journey. In class, we will read aloud the book Number the Stars. The students will read in mini book clubs their own historical fiction book. In addition to reading historical fiction, we will choose a person from the time period we are each reading about (a person of interest) to conduct additional research on. Our culminating activity will be a "living wax museum" in the classroom. We can't wait.
In math, we will begin to teach two lessons of math a day in order to prepare even further for the NYS Math test happening on May 2, 3 and 4th. We encourage to practice additional math at home on ixl or thinkcentral whenever possible.
In social studies, we are going to learn about WWII, while reading Number the Stars as well as researching the time periods of our book club books.
We look forward to the April Vacation and warmer weather!
